About PTA
PTA builds bridges between homes and schools, integrating the efforts of parents with those of principals and teachers. When you get involved in PTA, the child who benefits the most is your own. You also are taking a major step toward improving your child's school, your community, and your state and national education and health policies.
PTA is the largest parent involvement organization in the United States, with nearly 6 million members. PTA was created to better the lives of children, and it continues to flourish because we never lose sight of that goal.
Why PTA?
PTAs get results. More than 85 rigorous research studies conducted over 30 years show that kids do better when parents are involved. Grades are higher. Test scores improve. Attendance increases.
PTA keep parents informed. Involved parents can understand the challenges schools face and become part of the solution. PTAs support education through active participation and advocacy.
PTAs improve children's well-being. PTAs focus on what students need to be successful in their learning, including proper nutrition and safe, healthy environments.
PTAs benefits everyone. Strong schools mean stronger communities. PTA membership is open to anyone concerned with the education, health, and welfare of children.

National PTA
For more than a century, Parent Teacher Association (PTA) has provided support, information and resources to families focused on the health and education of children. The organization was founded in 1897 in Washington DC as the National Congress of Mothers by Alice McLellan Birney and Phoebe Apperson Hearst. If not for these women and their vision and determination, there would not be a PTA—an organization that has been woven into the very fabric of American life.
By whatever name it has been known, National PTA was created to meet a profound challenge: to better the lives of children. And today, it continues to flourish because PTA has never lost sight of its goal: to change the lives of children across our great nation for the better.
Texas PTA
Texas PTA is a grassroots organization made up of parents, teachers and others around the state who have a special interest in children, families and schools. PTA membership is as diverse as Texas is in cultures, education levels and parenting skills. By joining a PTA, a member automatically becomes part of the largest child-advocacy organization in the state — over 630,000 strong across Texas.Studies have proven that membership in PTA provides your child and other children around you with a greater chance of achieving in school. As a PTA member, you are more likely to be an informed, involved parent. These are dangerous times for children. More than ever, it is important for parents to learn ways to keep children safe, trouble free and involved in school. PTA is the best place to gain that knowledge.of the teachAt Encino Park, we sponsor many programs and events throughout the school year. The success of these programs is a direct result of the time, energy and dedication ers and the overwhelming number of volunteers.
